Born in Texas, raised in Eastern Pennsylvania, Terence J. Flanagan began studying piano at age 8 and began studying organ at age 11 with Robert C. Currier.  He took his first church job at 16 before entering the Curtis Institute of Music the following year.

One of the perks he enjoyed as an organ student at Curtis was playing the Wanamaker Grand Court Organ when the main organist, Dr. Keith Chapman, was unavailable. During his time at Curtis, Terry also held positions at First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and the Church of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in Paoli, PA.

Upon moving to NYC for graduate studies at the Juilliard School, Terry began his 18 year tenure as Organist and Associate Choirmaster at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church working alongside Dr. Richard Westenburg.

While Terry enjoys recital work his main joy is crafting a Sunday morning service with music that best support's the week's message.
